Lion-scribbles-1

A few people suggested lions to me over twitter when I queried for suggestions, so I scribbled some out. Had fun with a couple of them. Can you tell which ones?

I've been working more with pens, since I can't erase them. Forces me to just belt things out.

Love the two expressions on the left. This reminds me of how I need to work on my lion muzzle drawing -- they're a completely different shape from what I'm used to, and what I'm used to is "kittycat w/ big cheeks." This is very inspiring! =D

Thanks! Yeah, the muzzles we're a bit of a challenge. I think they're so tough because they're one of the defining charistics of a lion (aside from the mane, which is only for males.) Other animals can still be recognizable because of markings or similar.

Although I went with "big kitty cat" for the king. ;)

At the risk of being discounted for a species bias, these are great. :3 When I did life drawing I always worked in pen so that I'd be commited to every line, and as a result they were much less timid and overworked than the stuff I tend to make when erasing's easy.

I'm not too great with feral bodies for animals. D: I really do like how you drew those muzzles. They look really nice. :3 And the kitty king is cute! >U<
